Hi guys. There's a certain type of icon I'd really like to make, But alas I really struggle with trying to cut and crop the image I want onto somewhere else, So fear the easiest way I've been attempting to do it is by deleting the background out and then doing it that way but it doesn't look particularly tidy when you do so.

I'm using PSP 8 And so far the cropping techniques on there I really haven't learned to use very well at all when I think I've got it I clearly haven't.

I'm hoping to make something similar to this -> http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x247/maxRISA/lj/franchette-yukiko01b.png made by [info]franchette

Thanks alot.

Hi All,

I know I've seen a couple of tutorials about removing network logos. The only one I have is this one: community.livejournal.com/icon_tutorial/9576972.html but I think there were a couple more.

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks :)

ETA: Solved. Found the one I was looking for.

I'm using Photoshop CS3 and I've been making some animations, but when I want to save them and go to FILE>SAVE FOR WEBS, suddenly the program closes, so I cannot save them, I tried on reinstaling the program, but the error stills.
Someone have an idea on what's going on?, or maybe other way to save my gifs? (I don't have ImgeReady).

Thanks in advance.

Every time I try to save an image, it'll open in Photoshop, but wont open in ImageShack or TinyPic. I've tried several different things, but I'm still not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

Okay so I've been posting my icons and graphics, etc, on tinypic for some time and only recently has it started to make my icons look really blurry and fugly. *flails* I've just made an icon for a icon challenge so I can't display it but it looked great on my computer then I uploaded it to tinypic and not thinking anything of it, I posted it in the challenge. Looking at it after I'd already submit it, it looks horrible. >.< It's all...blurry, I guess but the picture I used was ubber HQ because I'm picky about my pictures... IDK what to do and I'm not sure how to fix it because it doesn't happen to all of my icons. If someone could help me that would be great. Thanks. :)

Hey everyone, i was hoping you could help me out.. I'm VERY interested in techniques to achieve the below affect (or is it effect, idk..) when making an animated icon.
in the examples, teh background looks as though it is completely removed with a texture behind it with no evidence of a rounded layer mask..
I know how to create animations and such, but how would i be able to cut out the background without masking EVERYSINGLEFRAME? Or is that not the techique used?
Anyways, idk.. I'm using PSCS4e and know my way around the program as previously stated.

This is about photoshop cs4.  I'm using the eraser on a layer mask and every once in awhile the eraser will mask away a spot on the picture that's not anywhere near the spot where the little eraser cursor is.  Or sometimes a single click will end up removing a long streak of pixels somewhere else on the picture as if I clicked and dragged the cursor.  Scattering is not on.  None of the little boxes in the brush palette are checked.  Solutions appreciated.

Um, well, my text only icons seriously suck. I'm not so good with any text, actually.

I was wondering if anyone could help me (I use GIMP) on how to create Text-Only icons?

Thank you!

Oh and I'm still slightly a beginner with GIMP, so if you could mention could to get the places that aren't... obvious. If that makes sense.

Thanks in advance!

I was looking at entries via the tag for paint shop pro, but most (if not all) are written for another program and I'm not sure how to (on my own) translate the directions into what I would need to do in PSP.  Does any one have tutorials that deal solely with PSP?  BTW I am using PSP 9.  Thank you!

This is mainly just me messing around with Photoshop for a while, then thinking 'huh, that looks alright' and writing down what I did XD Some of the reasoning might be a bit strange, but that's really cause I just clicked around until it looked right. -headdesk- I tried, though~

i've read the tutorial about screen calibrating, but my images always turn out duller and less vibrant when i upload them online as opposed to how they look in photoshop.

other things i've read say i need to use sRGB under save for web and devices, but i don't have that option. can anybody help me figure out a way to fix this?

Was curious to know if there was tutorial to how to acheive the colorization/glow effect with the eyes. I use PS CS3.

I was having some problems with the uploading feature, so I removed my previous post and re-sized the cut. Sheesh...

Anyway, I would appreciate whatever helpful advice  anyone could offer on how to achieve this effect. Thank you in advance.
